When I was a kid, I used to go out to dinner on my birthday with my family. Loved the free birthday food I got at the end of my meal part…not a huge fan of the waiters singing to me part, though.

Today there is so much free stuff to do on your birthday. The best part for a lot of these freebies, you can have all the joy of getting free things without any of the embarrassment attached.

I’ve scoured the internet to bring you a (almost) comprehensive list of all the free birthday food you can eat  in Canada. Whether you’re turning 14 or 49, you’re never too old for some birthday freebies. Keep reading to find out all the food you can steal this year.

A&W: Get a free root beer float on your birthday when you join the Mug Club.

Arby’s: Get a free birthday shake when you sign up for the Arby’s Insider newsletter.

Blenz: Get a free drink on your birthday (not promotional or seasonal drink) when you sign up for the Friends with Blenz rewards program.

Chatime: Get a free drink on your birthday when you sign up for the Chatime Rewards program.

Denny’s: Get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast on your birthday. No sign up required.  

Harvey’s: Get a free burger on your birthday when you sign up for the Harvey’s newsletter.

IHOP: Get a free stack of pancakes on your birthday when you join MYHOP rewards program. Bonus: you’ll also get free pancakes for signing up and on every anniversary of your sign up!

Kelly & Carlos O’Bryan’s Neighborhood:Get $20 off your meal before 4pm and $30 off from 4pm to close on your birthday when you bring at least one paying adult. That discount covers the cost of most of the meals on the menu.

Mandarin: Get a free dinner buffet for yourself when you bring at least 3 paying adults to dine on your birthday. You’ll also need to sign up for the Mandarin Dish e-newsletter.

Mary Browns: Get a free Big Mary chicken sandwich two days before your birthday when you sign up for the Mary’s Newsletter.

Medieval Times: Get a free feast and tournament on your birthday with one paying adult when you join the Medieval Times birthday club.

Pajo’s Fish & Chips: Get a free 2 piece cod and chips, choice of beef burger, or breakfast menu item when you buy one meal of greater or equal value. You’ll also need to sign up for their Birthday Club beforehand.

Whew! I feel full just reading this list. I found this post from a couple years ago by a woman from Food Network who went all around Manhattan getting all the free birthday food she could. She wound up tired, bloated, and a little sad from eating alone all day, but she got $121 worth or food for $15.
